The Adventures of Thumbs Up JohnnieTM children's book series is the latest book craze targeting kids ages 4-8. Thumbs Up Johnnie is an iconic thumbprint cowboy character. Johnnie's hometown, Happy, Texas, is populated by a cast of characters whose diversity mirrors that of everyday people. The Thumbs Up Johnnie book series is designed to illustrate the joys and benefits that come from engaging in socially conscious, positive behavior. Through his adventures, Johnnie and his friends demonstrate the advantages of doing what is right and set a positive example that encourages young readers to embrace positive behaviors as part of their daily lives.
With over 10 books and an upcoming animation series, the Thumbs Up Johnnie characters and brand needed a website that effectively communicates to kids and their parents, and showcases the book titles and programs.
The site includes:
- An interactive, explorative town (Happy, Texas) where kids can learn about the characters
- Access to downloadable coloring pages and online postcards
- Online ordering of books and other materials
- Event schedules and press releases, updated in real-time by internal staff
The site has been designed to comply with COPPA (Child Online Privacy and Protection Act) Laws. Future plans for the site include interactive games for children, video capabilities and podcasts.
