InSite Interactive is pleased to announce the opening of our new Usability Lab in our Dallas offices. This in-house lab marks another major milestone in our ongoing commitment to providing clients with the best services for continually improving their websites and online marketing initiatives.
The Usability Lab is equipped with state-of-the-art all digital recording and monitoring equipment to conduct design walk-thrus, focus groups and usability studies.
InSite's usability services provide our clients with an understanding of their users' thought process and an analysis of their actions as they move through a site. Once InSite observes how users are actually interacting with the site, our Design and Analytics teams can make targeted recommendations to improve the site's usability and performance. InSite has proven that this method of testing can provide valuable insight into the consumer experience ultimately resulting in increased site performance and conversion.
"Our investment in the Lab is a testament to our commitment to clearly define the needs of users before building the solution." said Adrienne Beam Cornelsen, President and CEO. "A site's usability will determine its effectiveness and ultimate ROI. The Lab provides an in-house venue to test and document usability in a controlled environment."
It has been demonstrated through research that preference does not equal performance. What users say they need and want is often substantially disconnected from what they actually need and want when faced with using a product or service to perform a task. The only way to effectively determine what is best for users is to observe users performing tasks with the product of interest.
The Lab features a Testing Room that can facilitate moderator-led site walkthroughs, a Control Room to monitor sessions and control recording devices, and an Observation Room that provides confidential viewing for clients.
The Testing Room is equipped with cameras and a computer designed to unobtrusively monitor and record the user's experience.. Participant's actions, expressions, and emotions are displayed on a split screen, along side a display that mirrors the monitor he or she is working on. InSite's usability and information architecture team captures this information and reports findings and recommendations that feature video clips from the testing sessions.
